Review: Robert Pattinson Falls Flat In “Remember Me”

Tyler, played by Robert Pattinson, and Ally, played by Emilie de Ravin are two people who get together and sulk. Tyler is a rich kid who hates his father and is depressed by the death of his brother and Ally is a girl from the other side of the tracks who is coping with the death of her mother. These two get together on a dare and we are on an hour and a half romp in “bored to death” land. The movie is full of tired story lines and is very predictable. Even the scenes with Pattinson and Ravin in bed together manage to bore us to death. The story continues to wander and leaves the viewer with nothing exciting to look at. The only thing that might save this movie is if the millions of “Twilight” fans go to see it just to get another look at Robert Pattinson. It would be better if you could forget “Remember Me”.

Wrong. You got it wrong. This movie was very strong, and sad. It was not boring. I really cared about these people. Not everything in life is all roses and happy songs. Roger Ebert gave this 4 of 5 stars. Who are you anyway?

  2. MovieSnob on March 13th, 2010 12:47 pm

I hate to break it to the writer of this review who failed to look past Pattinson’s weak performance, but Chris Cooper as well as Pierce Brosnan delivered strong performances. As well as, the purpose of the movie wasn’t to keep you on the edge of your seat rather than to show how the few connections you make in life can affect the people around you. This is the most pointless review I’ve had the misfortune of reading.

  3. zoe on March 13th, 2010 12:49 pm

remember me is honestly one of my favorite movies. i was bawling. you really get connected to the characters. it’s utterly amazing. honestly, rob pattinson was terrific. i loved every minute of it.

  4. amon on March 13th, 2010 12:49 pm

These movie reviewers including this one are sooo hilarious and they are just cut and paste from other negative movie reviews!! I can’t believe how movie reviews were plagiarized ! !

The only reliable and respectable movie critic is —– ROGER EBERT!!

Remember Me was no Casablanca, BUT, it was a good movie and well-acted by the actors! And yes, Robert Pattinson is mesmerizing on screen.

    Amon,
These are our reviews of this movie and are NOT plagerized. Our movie reviews are just opinions, everybody has one and sometimes people have the same opinions. We do not plagerize our movie reviews thank you!

I felt like this movie was very good. Robert Pattinson portrayed a young man who is coping with his brother’s death and while still managing to be his sister’s best friend. The movie was not boring – and if you felt it was “predictable” you have to be a psychic, because i didn’t see what happened coming. I can imagine it wasn’t easy to play his role, so i give him two thumbs up for a job well done. :)

  6. Angel on March 13th, 2010 12:55 pm

I agree Brosnan was quite amazing- and considering Rob’s performances thus far, I think this movie showed great promise for him. The message in the movie was strong and well worth seeing to receive. This “review” is a prime example of the utter lack of respect and credit I have for the majority of movie critics trying to make their prescense known. After this blog- I will forget you. :)

  7. sarah on March 13th, 2010 1:03 pm

u r sooooo wrong this movie was NOT boring it was veryyyy UN-PREDICTABLE and it rockes.it also had some humor. its my favorite movie now. i watched the movie yesterday and it was the best movie EVER. i adore rob by the way. but his proformance was beyond words. he rocked!!!
i was sitting and at the part where he takes his shirt off a girl behind me screamed and acctually fell from her chair i laughed…it was NOT a chick flick.it was the best movie evaaaaaa.
i didnt like emily de raven now i do. i give it like 6 stars from 5.
omg.i cried i the beginning and actually sobbed and cried at thhe end that my friends told me 2 shut up cuz every 1 was staring at me but i couldnt help it. i went in hesterics. i liked it wayyyy better than dear john OR the notebook or even titanic or any comedy /drama/romance its waaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy better people u have 2 c it omg.
    robert ur soooo sexyy

  8. Val on March 13th, 2010 1:16 pm

Wrong, wrong, wrong. Apparently you didn’t see the same movie i saw. It was very, very good. Pattinson was very good in the movie. It was not boring at all. The rest of the cast was good too. I hate that some of the critics have gleefully jumped on the bash Pattinson bandwagon. I don’t understand that at all. He is very talented. i agree with some comments above here that critics seem to be copying each others reviews – maybe they should copy Eberts.

    Two thumbs up from me!

Here we go again… another, what I would guess, middle-aged man hating on Robert Pattinson. Picture, if you will, maybe Jim Sturgess or another young actor in the role of Tyler… Would you have walked in hating the film before the previews even finished? I think ALL of the actors in this film did a wonderful job. The story was well put together and Rob’s performance was the best I’ve seen from him thus far. There is a large market for this kind of film, there’s no need to bash, not only the actors and writers, but the entire viewing audience that happened to love the film. Honestly, I just don’t care what you think.

  10. laura on March 13th, 2010 1:30 pm

Love it. Love Robert. I’d watching him just breathing on screen for 2 hours. He’s mesmerizing. And I’m far from being a tween. It was sweet and sad and well acted. The only thing that bothered me was Brosnan’s lame Brooklyn accent.

  11. Marina P. on March 13th, 2010 1:30 pm

Right! Who are you film critics? There’s more than one-two actors in this film. Even if you hate Pattinson, the film was still refreshing because of it’s filmic qualities and grittiness. I saw it last night with a family member and we were both moved. If anything, Brosnan seemed a little “forced” but Chris Cooper was excellent. Ruby Jerins (sp?) as the little sister stole my heart. I plan to see it again with my neighbors- and yes, we’re over 30, 40 and 50 years old. This film is for people who do not mind watching something other than slick Hollywood movies.

  12. Linda on March 13th, 2010 1:34 pm

It was a great movie and well acted. We loved it. Not boring at all. i was sucked into the story immediately and all the way to the end. Robert Pattinson is talented and very good looking. i hope this movie does very well and that he has a big career ahead of him. 5 out of 5 stars in my opinion.

  13. piz on March 13th, 2010 1:39 pm

I totally disagree. This movie was very emotional and powerful and made me appreciate the people in my life and love them even more. Robert. Emilie, Ruby and everyone in this movie was terrific. Robert Pattinson is obviously attractive and very popular ( I actually think alot of critics can’t be objective about this ) but he also happens to be a very good actor who wants to grow and challenge himself and even his audience which I totally appreciate. I think alot of people who are fans of RP and even those who seem to stay away becuz of his popularity should decide whether or not they wanna see this movie and not listen to the criticsto decide for them. But to be fair, let me just say that there have been several reviews about Remember Me that have been very good.

  14. Madison on March 13th, 2010 1:52 pm

I loved this movie! I thought it was very powerful and RP did a wonderful job. I hate the Twilight movies and was hesitant to see and RP movie (espeically opening day) but I was really in awe of how talented he is. I really connnected with all of characters and everyone did a phenomenal job.

  15. MONIQUE on March 13th, 2010 1:58 pm

this is so sad, what they trying to do to this young man, they are so hating on him,but how vcan you compare him to deep, who is twice his age,was he having box office hits at 23?critics you are so unfair is it because he is not AMERICAN,WE LOVE HIM AND I WILL SAY THAT ROBERT PATTINSON WILL BE A SUCESS HE IS ONLY 23 AND RM IS A GOOD MOVIE IS IT BECAUSE IT HAS THAT ENDING THATS LIFE LOOK AT HAITI AND NOW CHILE! YOU PEOPLE AND CRITICS STOP HATING HE GUY IS TRYING HOW COME YOU;LL NOT HATING ON GREEN ZONE IS IT BECAUSE FAVOUR IS IN THE STAR OF THE MOVIE?BUT THAT IS NOT HOW REAL LIFE IS HAVE YOU SEEN BLACK HAWK DOWN, AND WHAT ABOUT THAT MOVIE THAT ANGELINA JOLIE ACT IN ABOUT THE JOURNALIST I THINK HIS NAME WAS DANIEL PEARL,SO PEOPLE WE CANNOT PRETEND THIS IS LIFE AND UK PEOPLE DIED TOO

  16. rejna on March 13th, 2010 2:21 pm

Yet again a meaningless review. What does this review mean, other than your obvious dislike of the young lead?

Have you even seen the movie?

  17. ME on March 13th, 2010 2:33 pm

I feel like no one even watched the movie. How could you possibly say anything like that if you even saw it? The movie was very emotional and worth while, and the message at the end was the whole point of making the movie. Robert and Emilie were great, the played very believable and relatable characters. And what does this movie have to do with Twilight? Nothing! Every review I’ve read of Remember Me mentions Twilight. Why? Seriously Why? Twilight is the factor that leads these biased critics to write these bad reviews. Many love Robert, and many hate him. The reasons for the hate though, are quite juvenile…and probably fueled by jealousy more than anything else. But that is the world we live in, with people designed specifically to target you and tear you down. Simply…because they’re rotten people.

  18. Marlena on March 13th, 2010 2:34 pm

Rob was amazing in this movie….he reminded me so much of James Dean in Rebel Without a Cause. I thought his acting was superb….he showed so many range of emotions and played the charcter perfect.
And this movie was far from boring. It kept me entertained till the very end when I cried like a baby.
I think the problem today is, people are so use to seeing movies with special effects and no storyline. Everything is visual that the story gets lost. I saw Alice in Wonderland, and thought visually it was great. But it lacked any real story.
I don’t how anyone can say Rob can’t act after seeing this movie.

  19. danni on March 13th, 2010 2:38 pm

this movie was absolutly amazing.. Rob was unforgetable. the movie in itself was sad but it was the type of sad you connect with. which makes it that more loveable. i didn’t see any part of this movie coming. especially the end. i don’t see how you can sit and say these things. whoever you are i would like to see you do better. in acting or filming or directing. so until you can get your head out of your ass i think you need watch it again and really think about the charecter. i love Rob and this movie is by far the best one he has ever done. and i have watched all his past movies.

  20. Luna Marie on March 13th, 2010 2:41 pm

I could nit disagree more with this review. This movie was not boring in any way it just wasn’t one of the many happy, peppy movies Hollywood seems so fond of turning out every other weekend. I thought Pattinson’s performance was actually very moving, which could be due to the fact he wasn’t held back by the akward and mumbling Kristen Stewart. I also thought that the rest of the cast gave strong performances that allowed viewers to really connect with the characters and their stories. Not many movies can make me cry but the ending if this movie was one I never saw coming and left me with tears rolling down my cheeks. My message to all film critics out there: stop overthinking and overcritquing and just let yourself feel the story.

  21. Lydia on March 13th, 2010 2:45 pm

It sounds like you intended to hate it from the get go. You couldn’t be more wrong. Both my husband and i enjoyed Remember Me. We are in our 40′s, not 14 Twi-hards. We were both deeply affected. It was refreshingly different. My husband actually got teary-eyed and that NEVER happens. i applaud the entire cast who did an outstanding job. Robert Pattinson gave a great performance. The ending was powerfully and respectfully addressed. We found it very moving. The pace was good, the violence was not gratuitous. The relationships were believable and the dialog credible. It made me laugh and cry which is the sign of a great movie.

It woudl resound with anyone who has: 1) Dealt with sudden loss or have been around people who have felt profound loss. 2) Dealt with being bullied or a parent/sibling having to deal with a child that has been bullied. 3) Dealt Difficult parental relationships – or around those who have. 4) Had a relationship that has made their world better, no matter how brief.

There’s so much depth – and obviously, you completely missed it.

You’re just the typical critic out of step with the American public – but what else is new?

  22. Alyssa on March 13th, 2010 2:45 pm

I agree with Laura. I would also go to watch him breath for two hours. I Love everything about him. I havn’t seen the movie yet, but I will!

  23. You on March 13th, 2010 2:50 pm

Our nation is beginning to forget about the tragedy of 9/11. It is not exploitation, its called wake the $*@% up! It has become almost a taboo subject. Why? Dont forget. This movie was needed as a reminder.

  24. Gabrielle on March 13th, 2010 2:51 pm

I respect your review, now let me give you mine. I went yesterday to watch this movie with my family. We know about tragedy, because unfortunately we experienced a suicide in our family. About us, I just can say that thanks God we went. We were speechless at the end, and as the time passed a catharsys came and we realized how lucky we are to be loved and alive to express it. I don’t expect that everybody can understand the value of this. About acting performances, in my opinion a good one it the one that can deliver the message to audience. All the performances were excellent, we were not the only ones speechless. Maybe some people didn’t like it because they expect a mellow romance story from Robert Pattinson, or they received too many input from previous reviews and trailers. We did. We expected something different and received the input, but we can say “message delivered in the best of the ways possible”. I praise Robert Pattinson for taking risks like this movie without having to. Thank you kid, we know that you’re trying hard to give us your best, and you’re doing it extremelly well. You’re brave. I don’t recomend this movie for teens under 16. I recomended it for everybody else, and parental supervision is good for 16 to 20.

  25. Twilight Blows on March 13th, 2010 2:57 pm

Wow. Where to even begin. The amount of bullshit that results when mindless Twilight fans and the frenetic tapping of keyboards across the land combine is a phenomenon in itself. It’s like concentrated stupidity manifested through loosely strung together sentences. And don’t even get me started on the idiotic references. Haiti and Chile? What exactly do they have to do with this? And RP’s performance was like James Dean in Rebel Without A Cause? Seriously?
What planet are you people living on? Because really, it must be fun over there. Can I come?

  26. emily on March 13th, 2010 3:00 pm

I just saw this movie and I absolitely adored it. It was really sad the whole time but this review is bull. this is life. people live like this. and its not something thats uncommon. so what if they were sad? at least they loved each other. and that was enough for them. this movie is worth watching it will remind you of a natural kind of love…

and pattinson..well hes gonna marry me someday. so it was nice to see him and his sexy self too (:

  27. Brittany Wilson on March 13th, 2010 3:03 pm

This was a GREAT movie. Obviously “the staff” who wrote this article have no clue what was going on in the movie and have NO emotions. Life is not always easy, especially for people who experience tramatic death in their lives. Fortunately this is not something that I have had to deal with, but have several friends who are still in a very dark place because of things such as murder and suicide. I think that Robert Pattinson did such an amazing job. I see so much potential for him as an actor. I thought that the cast in general all did an outstanding job, and I thank actors for these types of performances. The type of acting that is able to really connect with the audience is priceless, and this is exactly what all of them did. This is the type of movie that I will stick with me, it is an example of “the good” that is still possible from “bad” things that can and do happen in life. Everything is significant and everything has meaning. This movie HAS MEANING, and anyone with a HEART will enjoy it! Great movie choice Robert! Try and stay away from the crazy and obsessed women, I feel bad for ya man, but am rooting for you!!! Great job

  28. isabel on March 13th, 2010 3:21 pm

bottom line . . . this movie should not be compared to Casablanca or An Affair to Remember or any Brando movie, etc. For heaven’s sake, this is Pattinson’s first feature film really since he became a star via Twilight. So, it is unfair to give it the same weight as those mentioned films. And film did not suck, it was actually very good, and Pattinson was very good. He is definitely watchable, and this movie that compels you to see his other films, and I am waiting for a big film that will star him, something with storyline more powerful than his screen presence.

  29. Katie on March 13th, 2010 3:22 pm

This was a very poorly written movie review. The critic sounds like a 12 year old boy who was dragged to the movie by an older sister. It’s obvious whoever wrote this never sought to give this movie or the actors a chace. I saw it last night and found it absolutely amazing. As for predictable, I don’t know one person who could have possibly predicted how it ended unless they were already told the ending. I’m not a fan of Robert Pattinson in Twilight, however, he really proved himself in Remember Me. I loved the movie.

  30. malissa on March 13th, 2010 3:24 pm

you are totally wrong! I am in my late 30′s and NOT a twilight fan…and my husband and I loved the movie!

  31. Carolyn on March 13th, 2010 3:32 pm

This was a wonderful movie. The actors – all of them did a tremendously first rate job. The storyline was deep and mindful and emotional. I LOVED this movie. I will tell everyone I know to go see it. I went to this movie to support Robert Pattinson and stayed because it was a quality film filled with great acting and a powerful storyline. It was worth the price of admission and I definitely got my money’s worth.

  32. Nelson on March 13th, 2010 3:47 pm

Dude, you are a bad.. This movie was actually good. It is different, not the typical hollywood movie that’s for sure, but that’s what is good about it. I enjoyed it and felt it.. it moved me

  33. miss my sis on March 13th, 2010 4:04 pm

You can always tell when the so called “reviewer” of a movie is writing something to just stir up the fans because they never put their names on it. I would have connected with this movie whether Rob was in it or not. I could identify with losing someone close to me and dealing with their death for the rest of my life. Obviously the person who wrote this has never had that experience. Call it sulking if you like but I can assure you when you watch some bastard murder a loved one in a robbery, you don’t exactly wake up each morning whistling dixie and feeling like you’ve won the lotto. You don’t just forget about it the next day and go to Disneyland. Rob and the cast did a great job and I’m looking forward to seeing more of Rob’s movies in the future. Too bad CMR didn’t send a professional to review this movie….it’s obvious this person never intended to be objective.

  34. ginny on March 13th, 2010 4:09 pm

I am really amazed at the bad reviews this movie is getting. I know everyone is entitled to there own opinion, but honestly, did the critics see the movie or are they so jealously blind of Robert Pattinson that they cannot see. I think Robert Pattinson portrayed his character exactly as it was intended. Would you not be brooding if your brother committed suicide? I did not anticipate the ending, and yes it was disturbing, but far less then 9/11 was. Are we forgetting this? I enjoyed the movie so much I intend to see it again, and would recommend it.

  35. ME :) on March 13th, 2010 4:15 pm

This movie was absolutly AMAZING… All of the reviewers that have said this movie is bad have absolutly no idea wat they are talking about. Robert did a great job and yes he could’ve done a little better in some parts but let’s see you try to get out there and act in a hard spot like he had to. He really had to try and connect himself to Tyler or the movie wouldn’t have been good. He did a GREAT job and if you don’t think so then ok, but don’t go out sayin anything bad about him cause it’s not like you could’ve done better. ROB YOU WERE AMZING and YOU ARE ABSOLUTLY BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  36. ME :) on March 13th, 2010 4:27 pm

And boring?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Psh this was one of the only movies I have seen tht I was Payin attention and watchin the whole time!!!!! This movie made me laugh, cry, and think about life in a way I’ve never thoguht before.

  37. why not on March 13th, 2010 4:43 pm

Cinematic romance is unrealistic bullshit. Which is why I enjoyed this movie. What is described in this critique as boring plot is…life. The romance wasn’t overblown or perfect. It was refreshingly identifiable.

  38. Taylor on March 13th, 2010 4:45 pm

You are very very wrong. This movie was very moving and it me hard. Even a day later I can not stop thinking about it, and no not because of Robert Pattinson. My 60 year old grandparents absolutely loved it! My grandpa cried the entire time, and I would never have expected it to end the way it did. Please next time have an open mind about the movie you are reviewing and really pay attention to it.

  39. sadie on March 13th, 2010 5:08 pm

I “absofreakinlutely” enjoyed this film A tearjerker yes. But Pattinson delivered the goods in this film. Along with everyone else. Sure, it is a small film. But a good film. No car crashes, no hi tech goodies, no cgi. But people, who are all good people, trying to find solutions to their problems in life. Maybe not everyone’s cup of tea but message delivered and message received I personally think that some reviewers, yourself obviously included, want to dump on Pattinson because he is popular. And handsome. But the truth of the matter is, the kid is a good actor, and deserves some serious credit for taking on this project without the glitz and glamour. And taking risks that will only help his development. Maybe you should do the same. Actually go into a film and not only use your judgement but the judgement of others in the theater. See what they see. Everyone at my viewing loved it.

  40. sadie on March 13th, 2010 5:09 pm

Oh by the way. Maybe you should go see it again. Retest the waters so to speak

  41. San on March 13th, 2010 5:44 pm

Just saw RM and was very impressed. My girlfriend was very upset at the end…poor thing. It stays with you, that’s for sure. I left the theater thinking that Rob and cast should be proud of this movie and the message it sends. RP has this amazing screen presence, he draws you in and my heart broke for him. And for those who say we only went to see rob on film….your right…but that’s why it’s called “box-office draw”. And Rob will be drawing me back to see this one again! Well done Rob, can’t wait for BelAmi

  42. sharon on March 13th, 2010 5:47 pm

I am fifty three years old, and I have been around a while, I am not a big Twilight fan. Remember Me was one of the best movies I have seen in a long time.
I had concerns about seeing it at the theater because I knew alot of teenagers would be there on opening night. Sure enough there were, and they giggled, and ran up and down the isles and texted.
I wondered if I would get to even see the movie. But about 1/4 of the way in, they started to settle down. Then half way we were all mesmorized, then three quarters of the way we were aplauding, and the last then minutes you could have heard a pen drop.
I feel like this young man gave America a fine gift of this movie.
He got teens to listen to some really important issues about growing up, and life in general. He influenced them in a way no other actor could. They saw first hand what it was like for the families of 911. All I can say is BRAVO ROBERT PATTINSON!
DO NOT READ WHAT THESE SNOTTY IGNORANT WANNA BE CRITICS say. You are fabulous! The movie was GREAT! I for one was impressed and I think eveyone who gives this movie a chance will not regret it!

  43. Elise on March 13th, 2010 5:56 pm

I saw the movie with an open mind and disregarded those critics that were negative about it. The movie got good reviews from some of the more respected critics, like USA today and Roger Ebert, to name a few. Anyway, the movie was brilliant and my take on it was that it was a beautiful love story and a very touching tribute to the events of the day, a reminder that sometimes we get lost in numbers and forget that each and every individual that was taken that day had their own personal story. Robert’s acting was amazing and should silence the critics once and for all. He is in Hollywood to stay that’s for sure, so any haters out there – just suck it up.

  44. Kelly on March 13th, 2010 6:26 pm

I don’t have issue with a critic not liking the movie – I generally disagree with movie critics’ on the whole, anyway. People go to movies to be entertained, moved, touched, carried away – not to judge camera angles, directing mistakes or even your opinion on acting ability.
I went to see Remember Me with my 18 year old daughter who is a anti-Robert Pattinson person. She hated Twilight – loved the books, hated the movies. I guilted her into going to see the movie and asked her to at least accompany me for all the Disney films I sat through in her formative years. We thoroughly enjoyed the movie. Both of us knew how it was going to end and we still cried. So, here is an opinion from someone OVER 40. It was a good movie. Sad, at times….funny, at times…and touching in many ways. People live with tragedy in their lives every day – this movie made it seem real – no overblown plot with car chases or explosions, no glamorized violence…just the stuff that real people have to deal with everyday. And as for the 9/11 thing…it makes me crazy to hear people talk about Remember Be “using” it to get more asses in the seats. It was leaked 2 days before what the ending would be to most of the world. They didn’t “use” it at all…and the movie did what most other drama’s and discussions about 9/11 haven’t done. It was a beautiful day, people went to work, visited people, went shopping…lived their lives and suddenly it all just happened. It made it even more heartbreaking that this young man had started to get his life together. THOUSANDS of people died that day…and they were just like him – struggling to make their life better. What better way to protray it? Good job, Robert Pattinson, Pierce Brosnan, Emilie DeRavin, Allen Coulter and Will Fetters. You got it. Hopefully, people that see it will, too.

  45. Kristin Johnston on March 13th, 2010 7:00 pm

This movie was beyond GOOD. It was AMAZING. I’ll be honest I went to see it because of ROB and I thought the story looked kind of good. But literally 5 mins into the movie you forget you are watching ROB. You don’t think about EDWARD or ROBSTEN for that matter, you are totally ingrossed in TYLER. Rob did an amazing job in this film and anyone who says otherwise is jealous. I am sure if we do enough research the same critic said similar things about George Clooney, Tom Cruise and many other leading actors who were at the time the object of affection by millions of female fans both young and old. Roger Ebert gave this movie 4 out of 5 stars and so far he is the only critic who I actually regognize the name. SO the rest of you so called movie critics why dont you find something better to do because obviously you saw this movie because you were paid to and could not handle that your significant other would rather be with ROB right now than you.

  46. Andrea on March 13th, 2010 7:03 pm

I enjoyed Remember Me. Strong performances from an endearing cast. Ending was perhaps a little contrived…but worth seeing

  47. Kathy Pine on March 13th, 2010 7:58 pm

Being a Twilight fan that is middle age has nothing to do with how I feel about Robert’s performance in Remember Me. He did a great job in making the audience feel his pain with the many obstacles that take place in his life. I applaud him for the emotion that he brought to the big screen. Great job!

  48. Carrie on March 13th, 2010 8:23 pm

This movie was extremely well done. Just goes to show you should take all critics reviews with a grain of salt. Clearly, they are called critics for a reason. The entire cast did an outstanding job with their characters, and the storyline was unpredictable yet gripping. Highly reccommend this movie!

  49. Nika on March 13th, 2010 9:20 pm

I have to say, I just saw this movie tonight with a friend, and not just to see Rob Pattinson. This was a strong movie and well acted by the entire cast. This is a real story!! with a very real ending! A powerful story of cause and effect and connections. What s shame it is that reveiwers can’t get over the fact that Rob was in the Twilight films… the guy can act! is it his fault he is also an amazing looking man? Stop beating him up and enjoy this film…I did.

Remember me was wonderful… at 63 I am solid enough to know what I like and what I do not like. All the ingredients of life were in the movie ‘Remember me”!

I believe some of the critics I have read reviewing this movie are trying to be far to “politically correct” with their comments regarding the 9/11 connotations.

Get over it… build a bridge and move on…. airplanes do crash occasionally … and not always into the sea…. there is nothing written that says airplanes are not allowed to crash into buildings.

The film depicts for me a valuable life lesson…. “Live in the Moment” as we none of us know when our last moments with our loved ones will be.

It also proves that young Robert Pattinson did a wonderful job at getting that message to ‘todays young folk’. Bravo Robert…. You are a very good actor and I believe you have a great career ahead of you. I will watch with interest.

Critics have a job to do I know… some do it well… others make it difficult to understand if they are reviewing the same movie I just saw.

Are you kidding me……First of all if your going to write a bad review, have the balls to put your name behind it. Second of all this movie dosen’t reflect how good Rob looks or how many Twilight Saga fans flock to the theaters to see Mr. Pattinson look fine as ever, hell even on his worst day. This movie is simply Rob stepping out of Edwards shadow and proving to his real fans he’s more that a pretty face and a hot commodity, he can quite simply put stand next to the pros and know it wasen’t his looks or his vocals that put him there, it was his ability to morph any character into someone believable that any fan would want to flock to the theaters to see. Lastly (Staff Writer) get a clue, see it again, don’t think of Robert Pattinson, Edward Cullen or any of the other mags and pics you’ve seen lately and watch this young man step out and shine.

I loved the movie…up until the end. I thought the characters were intriguing and real. I loved the family dynamic and how it started to grow and improve towards the end. Caroline was adorable and played a great part and I could sympathize with her as well as with Tyler’s character about being so protective of his younger sibling. HOWEVER, the ending ruined it. Not because of anything other than the fact that we take this fictional movie, get attached to fictional characters, and then let’s throw in an actual event that only happened about 9 to 9.5 years ago. Being from New York, I am insulted and not pleased with the ending. It is too soon to bring up what happened on September 11th especially when depicting a fictional movie. This movie should have been prefaced with based on true events/true stories. Also, considering the state that the country is in and that we are still at war I find it completely inappropriate to bring up 9/11. Awful ending and I wouldn’t be surprised if it was taken out of theaters fairly soon.

Oh by the way Staff Writer and other bash em folks F$%@ OFF. Sooooo what, most of the people that saw the movie are Twilight or Rob fans. I just saw this movie and it was wonderful. I do not feel it exploits 9/11 in any way. Only nine years have passed and people have already begun to become numb to 9/11. I was twenty years old when that horrific day happened, and pregnant with my first child. I promised myself I would live each day like it was my last, and I have kept my promise. This movie teaches us the importance of living and how wrong it is to just think each day is guaranteed. The movie teaches us to live and to love, and to always remember how important it is to share our love with those around us.

I would like to thank the actors and crew who worked on this film. It was incredibly brave to use 9/11 in the script and you did it beautifully. Thank you for having the courage to bring to life a script which others probably hesitated about. It was an honor to watch the film, and I will never forget the feeling I walked away with. You should feel proud of yourselves, and don’t let anyone make you feel otherwise.

  59. Tam on March 14th, 2010 12:17 am

And i don’t watch twilight. I was just interested in the movie and I must sayhe is good. Is he as good in the twilight movies? I was told that Kristen didn’t do well in part two of the twilight thing.

  60. jen on March 14th, 2010 12:21 am

Critics you are making fools out of yourselves. The public will never have faith in you again. Remember Me is a great movie!! The negative reviews you are putting out there are just not true. Robert Pattinson acting is incredible. The whole cast of the movie is great. The public is already making it clear that they love this movie. Your attacks on Robert Pattinson are so obvious. Get used to it because a young person with this incredible talent is going to be around for a long time! I am not a teenager and not a twilight fan.

  61. Kara on March 14th, 2010 3:54 am

I respectfully and wholeheartedly disagree with this review.First of all, I’m a New Yorker born and bred, and did not find the ending offensive at all. Was I upset? yes, but it’s good because it woke me up again to the fact that I’m taking my life for granted. It reminded me of the sense of community we felt for a while, and how short life seemed. I also felt for the characters and was mesmerized by Rob. Couldn’t take my eyes off of him whenever he was on screen.I will say I think Summit botched the marketing of this film, shouldn’t have tried to keep it PG-13 to get more $$, from what Rob’s said in interviews they were forced to cut some important scenes between Tyler and Ally. Also it’s not just a romantic drama, it’s a gritty look at love and loss and grief, but the trailers all push the romance.Rob poured his heart and soul into this film, and it shows.

  62. lynnette on March 14th, 2010 4:48 am

The critics who trash Robert Pattinson remind me of a movie review I read in The New Yorker some fifty plus years ago. The reviewer sneered at an “absurdly handsome” newcomer whom he dubbed “the poor man’s Marlon Brando”. His name was Paul Newman. So hang in there, Robert. I thought your performance was as complex and fully alive as any by a young Newman or Redford. I thought the script was intelligent and moving, and the ending respectful. There’s nothing cheap about reminding people that every life lost in 9/11 was a story interrupted.

  63. mommy3 on March 14th, 2010 10:48 am

I kept reading the critics on this movie and how negative they were but i had to see for myself what exactly the critics meant. When I went in there I wanted to pay closer attentioin to two things, the stoyline and Roberts acting. Storyline was incredible, it was true, loving it was DYNAMIC. I went in there with just knowing the ending was crazy cause thats what a kept reading. But never expected it to be anything like what it was. Being a sibling to someone who worked in the building the ending blew me away. It MOVED me. I was fortunate on that day that my brother was running late for work and didnt make it in time and I still have him with me. But I was able to relate to the hearbreak of the movie. The movies story line was PERFECT from beginning to the end. SPECTACULAR. Now Roberts acting. I couldnt believe what I was seeing he was TOUCHLESS, you couldnt have found a better actor to play that role he did an INCREDIBLE job. He possed me he drew me in he had me for the whole movie.

Critics who bash the movie GET A NEW JOB.

  64. Enya Angel on March 14th, 2010 12:39 pm

Wow, I’m really sorry I just read this review. Not only does this review make the writer sound like a sad middle-aged man with serious relationship issues, it also shows how low the standard of reviews is getting. Honestly, you must not have understood the film at all. If that was the case, don’t dump your own arrested mental development on a wonderful cast of actors, a great script, and an overall poignant and relevant movie. Sorry, but umm what are you? A film critic? More like a sad little man with commitment issues.

  65. Eaglelover on March 14th, 2010 1:43 pm

Disagree with this critic. It was a very powerful movie and Rob did a fantastic job! All the actors did a great job! It has been quite some time since I watched a movie that caused such a range of emotions. The ending was tastefully done!

  66. Anna on March 14th, 2010 5:01 pm

Gee! How pathetic that you can sit there and toss such negative nonsense over this movie. The cast was wonderful and the movie makes you think about living your life and loving your loved ones as thought it was your last day…as for the ending I think most of us our aware of what a horrific day it was in America. So should we just pretend it didn’t happen. That said we have Scars of every injury that has plagued us through our history and surivive it. I think you should forget about writing reviews you have no idea what is happening today. Perhaps its the fact that a young actor has made and stole the hearts of millions of people and made as much money. Hmm

  67. Donna Lee on March 16th, 2010 6:45 pm

All I can say is this . The review of this movie is totally wrong. And we are definitely not quite young. Four of us ( young seniors ) went to see this with no expectations persay ….. and we all got pleasantly surprised and loved this movie to the extent we think he could be nominated for an Oscar. Robert Pattinson was serious and intent . And the ending – totally unexpected. He delivered ! Sorry , I do not agree with this review at all.

  68. Gabrielle on March 19th, 2010 3:10 pm

I wrote a review here on March 13, and yesterday I saw this movie again. I went in first place because I liked it, and second because I wanted to have the chance of check three things. Now I think that I have an idea of why movie critics and general audience differed for far about this movie.

I can appreciate that Remember Me is accused of having “tired story lines” or happening in “bored to death land”, a bad performance from Robert Pattinson, and having a “disrespectful end”. What I can say is: this movie doesn’t follow rules and this is not necessarily wrong. It is like when you learn how to write an essay, somebody tells you that a well-written paper “must” follow an acceptable format. Remember Me is an excellent movie and I understand why critics are bashing it, it is because don’t follow the acceptable rules. I think that this point of view is wrong used in the case of Remember Me. Like I said in my previous review, we experienced a suicide in our family, and I can tell that when you have to go thru this kind of tragic experiences (like mine or murder) the most probable is that nothing that you have to live follow the “rules”. Your world is completely shaken by angst, regret, guilt, and you never know how are you going to react everyday. This movie is a real portray of what a loss like this represents. Please, don’t be worry about see it because our pain is not contagious. This is not the swine flu. This is just a real and fair portray, that is unchained by the fact that the main character, Tyler, left someone in to his world. Another thing that is hard to read is that critics said that Remember Me is “predictable”. Right now, I live in San Diego, CA area. Recently the police found the corps of two high school girls raped and murdered, and I don’t think that any person can tell to their two unfortunate families how “predictable” their suffering will be, or when this must end. I am sorry; I don’t mean to be rude. I am just making my point, is very frustrating to read that someone in this kind of tragedy can be qualified as “unhappy people”, “depressed”, “bored” or “still sad after 8 years”. Sadly, I must clarify that to live a experience like this is not a choice that people make, it just happen.

Second thing. This is something that critics will not like: I must say that Robert Pattinson is a great actor if he didn’t live this kind of experience, because he understood and explained to audience our feelings. I think I heard a girl expressing about him, she told: “he sees and he listens”. I must add, “he feels” and the most important thing “he transmits”. I pay more attention and my opinion is that Robert Pattinson in his performance as an actor has a very powerful innate instinct to transmit feelings to others. Hollywood and critics can be pissed off because this not comes from an acting technique. Is an innate personal skill that combined with his determination gives an instant connection with the public. In Remember Me he gives a great acting performance.

(Spoiler Alert: stop reading) Finally the end is not disrespectful, because the real end is in a few seconds’ scenes: she overcome, they overcome. This is the only “happy ending” that we, the people involved in tragedy, can aspire to. We will never forget, we will always remember, and somewhere, someday and somehow we will learn to diminish the pain for the loss, and start to handle it, in order to move on. We will always remember and overcome the bad and toxic feelings. I understand the mixed reactions because it is related with a national tragedy, but it’s done in a respectful way. Every person has inside his or her own grief rhythm, and if the end would be different, audience would not connect whit the possible overcome; which is the main message of the movie, and I can see that general people understood this better than critics.

Remember Me is a great movie, a piece of art. You must see it to have your own opinion. You can say that I am bias, but I think that so far is the better drama movie with a meaning in many years.

  69. Ruthie on April 13th, 2010 10:40 am

As you can see waited for a bit before posting a review. I think some of the critics, including you, got it wrong. This was an absorbing, romantic, family driven movie. I got it and so did all my older than middle aged friends. Who also enjoyed it. Robert Pattinson is a fine young actor. And yes, because I actually remember, a throw back to James Dean. But remember James Dean only did three films before his untimely death. So no one knows where his career would actually have gone. Pattinson is making good choices it appears and is being given the opportunity to prove himeself. The choice of Bel Ami, which is on my book shelf, is perfect for him. Must reread it. As for Water for Elephants his casting is perfect. As for the ending, there has not been an event in the last hundred years that hasn’t made it on to film. Yes it is fresh for Americans. Yes it hurts to remember that day. And the days that followed. But it is part of history, our history, and I really don’t take offense of it being done rather tastefully in film. I also think for a small budget movie it is doing fairly well worldwide. $45 million approx as of today. And it will still go up after it opens up in more markets this week. I know critics get paid for their opinion and there are times I agree, and disagree. But in this case some did not get past the pretty face on the screen. And instead of watching the performance they dismissed it. Not good reviewing from my point of view.

Got something to say?
