Review: How To Train Your Dragon Is Not For Kids

How To Train Your Dragon is a fun and fast paced 3D thrill ride that will certainly appeal to adults but might not be suitable for young kids. Dragon is a classic animated story of how a boy, who doesn’t quite fit in, comes into his own and gains the respect of his family and friends. The dragons in this movie were some of the best I have seen anywhere. A lot of time was spent creating the many different variations of dragons and it really comes through in the movie. The 3D effects were phenomenal, we were kind of biased here as we watched the film in IMAX, which brings everything to life but it should be a great 3D experience in a regular theater as well. The word “kill” is used quite a bit in How To Train Your Dragon and some of the violence and antics could cause younger children to have nightmares. There is some adult humor in the movie and could be a reason to not let the younger kids go to see it. How To Train Your Dragon is a wonderful film and well worth the extra price for 3D, but its use of adult language and the violence, while minor, might be a cause for concern for some parents. How To Train Your Dragon is playing in all the major theaters and IMAX and is rated PG-13.
