“Grown Ups” Review: Adam Sandler Should Stick to Acting, Skip Writing

I was really looking forward to the movie “Grown Ups,” and sadly it was so bad I almost walked out and demanded a refund. When you get Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade and Rob Schneider in a movie together, you would think that it would be a hilarious, pee-your-pants funny movie, right?
Wrong.
It was like attending one of those parties where you don’t know anyone really well, but they all know each other since childhood. They have a bunch of in-jokes that no one else but them understands, and they bore you to tears with their stories about each other, while laughing hysterically at their own jokes…that you don’t get because you didn’t grow up with them.
“Grown Ups” was like that, which is a real shame because a whole lot of talent got wasted here.
Adam Sandler wrote the movie with Freed Wolf, and hopefully he never goes down that road again. He needs to stick to acting, leave the writing for people who know what humor is.
