“Charlie St. Cloud” had promise from the trailers and the tease of a story line, but the finished product just didn’t deliver. The story line is flat and predictable. Charlie, played by Zac Efron, and his brother Sam, played by Charlie Tahan, are both killed in a tragic car crash and Charlie is revived. This death experience allows Charlie to see dead people, read his brother Sam. Charlie is torn between the real world and the world of ghosts he visits and turmoil arrives through a girl Tess, played by Amanda Crew. This conflict is so transparent and predictable that you can figure out the rest of the movie all on your own. Zac Efron shows us he is only one dimensional in “Charlie St. Cloud” as he attempts to give various emotions through his acting that all look the same. This movie was clearly written to showcase Efron walking around taking his shirt off so the young girls can swoon and is a clear step down for Zac as he did a solid job in “Me And Orson Welles”. “Charlie St. Cloud” is a movie any adult will hate and the teen girls will love just because Zac Efron is in it.
